About the client
KDL Enterprises is a woman- and family-owned building materials company in the Pacific Northwest that manufactures railing systems and skylights. They are committed to consciously creating safe and inspiring environments that add value to the homes and lives of their customers. KDL has a unique approach and provides a personal, tailored, custom experience which results in a beautiful and intentional final product that meets their customers’ needs, site specifications, and budget. They do things differently… different but better!
About the brand
KDL reached out to me while in the process of doing a complete overhaul of their branding and business systems. Krista, the heart behind KDL, had a goal to streamline, improve, and update all of their systems, and elevate both their marketing and day-to-day operations. Building a strong brand foundation and developing a timeless, authentic, and refined visual brand for KDL and their family of products would help KDL take a big step forward and give them even more confidence as Krista makes these exciting changes to the company.
We focused on a blend of classic + modern, clean + comfortable, calm + confident with a bit of playfulness thrown in. We honored KDL’s geographical location with an outdoorsy PNW vibe and a handcrafted, vintage flair that speaks to their longevity as a family-owned company. Their color palette and typography are a direct reflection of this vision, as are the round seal marks and the custom vintage explorer-themed illustrative icons. The textures were carefully curated to represent the spaces that KDL helps create and what their clients are taking in while experiencing their products. The house brand mark, use of ribbons, and other little elements and details add interest and make this brand unique and memorable.
The Western ClearView Railing Systems and Western Skylights product logos and branding are an extension of the KDL umbrella brand. I love the classic vintage script font and how we pulled specific colors from the KDL palette to be dominant colors for each product! This helps them stay connected to the KDL brand while being able to stand on their own.
KDL is officially launching in 2021!
